How to Apply

• Step 1: Get Ready!

  Before you start your application:

  • • Check the admission requirements for your major and level
    • If you're feeling unsure, schedule a virtual appointment with an Admissions representative, call us (760-750-4848), or email us at apply@csusm..edu 
• Step 2: Submit Your Application on Cal State Apply

  During the application period for Spring or Fall admission (see When to Apply), go to Cal State Apply to submit your application for admission. If you are a freshmen, you can also launch your application from your CaliforniaColleges account.

• Step 3: Check Your Email and Follow Next Steps
  Within a day or two of submitting your application in Cal State Apply, you will begin to receive emails from CSUSM with instructions for next steps. Be sure to check your inbox regularly!

When to Apply

Spring 2026 (Transfers Only) 

Open to all majors, except Nursing. The application for Electrical Engineering and Biological Sciences majors closes on Sep 30.

*Please note that transfer applicants must submit official transcripts to receive an admission decision at CSUSM. Learn more.

Fall 2026 

The application for Biological Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Nursing majors closes on Dec 1. The application for second bachelors degree applicants closes on Dec 31.

*Please note that transfer applicants and freshmen applicants who have already graduated from high school must submit official transcripts to receive an admission decision at CSUSM. Learn more.
