Refer a student for SI Leader

Supplemental Instruction (SI) was created at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as a means to support students across campus.

If you are a current partner with Supplemental Instruction and you have student who has successfully completed your course and would make great SI Leaders for future semesters, please refer them by clicking on the button above.

How SI works:

  • At Cal State San Marcos, SI has been supporting science and math courses through the STEM Student Success Center. Through partnership with the STEM SSC and departments, the ASC is expanding this amazing service by launching SI for Accounting and Economic courses this Spring 2019!
  • Students attend regularly scheduled, voluntary, out-of-class group study sessions driven by students’ needs.
  • Sessions are facilitated by trained Supplemental Instruction Leads who utilize collaborative activities to ensure peer-to-peer interaction in small groups.
  • Supplemental Instruction Leads are supported and evaluated by a trained supervisor.
  • Courses targeted for SI are courses with high failure rates.

Who participates in SI?

  • SI is a free and voluntary service offered to all students in a targeted course. All are encouraged to participate!
  • Students with varying levels of academic preparedness and diverse backgrounds benefit from SI.

Make a checklist of all your responsibilities for the week and schedule them to be done a few at a time. If strictly adhered, it prevents procrastination, reduces stress, and it can be very satisfying to check off each obligation as they are finished.
