Committee Info

 ASI committees meet throughout the year to govern the operations of the organization related to various issues and processes. Meeting agendas and minutes for the current academic year will be posted here as they become available. All scheduled meeting dates for the 2018/19 academic year are listed below. Most Board of Directors meetings will take place in USU 2310 A&B unless otherwise listed on the posted agenda. Most other committee meetings will take place in the ASI Conference Room in USU 3700 unless otherwise listed on the posted agenda.

  • Internal Operations Responsibilities, Membership, & Archives

    The responsibilities of this committee include:

    • Review proposed budgets, and make recommendations to the ASI Board of Directors regarding the ASI annual budget allocation.
    • Give consideration and attention to financial matters brought to the Internal Operations Committee, when appropriate.
    • Review and make recommendations to the ASI Board of Directors regarding changes greater than five percent (5%) to the current annual operating budget, including transfer of funds from corporate reserves.
    • Amend the ASI Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Codes of Governance for recommendation to the ASI Board of Directors for approval.
    • May review ASI Resolutions prior to consideration by the ASI Board of Directors and make recommendations to the Board. Note that ASI Resolutions must be reviewed by the ASI Student Advocacy Committee prior to consideration by the ASI Board of Directors, but they may also be reviewed by the Internal Operations Committee to gather additional feedback.
    • Receive grievances or complaints brought against any elected or appointed member of the ASI Board of Directors. The Internal Operations Committee shall review and respond to any grievances and complaints aforementioned and construct a recommendation to the ASI Board of Directors for action.  All grievances and complaints about the ASI elections process and candidates for office shall be directed to the ASI Elections Committee.
    • Review and make recommendations to the ASI Board of Directors regarding significant changes in ASI programs and services, scope of operations, and space. These decisions should take into consideration the overall impact to student access, availability, and use.

Student Advocacy Committee

  • Student Advocacy Committee Responsibilities, Membership, & Archives

    The responsibilities of this committee include:

    • Identifying and discussing concerns and issues impacting students at California State University San Marcos and within the California State University (CSU) system.
    • Staying informed of governmental, legislative, and political agenda items under consideration by the California State Student Association (CSSA).
    • Reviewing ASI Resolutions prior to consideration by the ASI Board of Directors and recommend actions of support, opposition, and/or neutrality to the board, unless the ASI Board of Directors approves an exception.
    • Receiving concerns brought by students against University processes and practices, and may forward concerns to the Board of Directors for consideration or action.

    The membership of this committee includes: 

    • Voting Members: The number of voting members may fluctuate annually due to corporation and/or membership growth and shall be amended as needed.
    • All ASI BOD College Representatives
    • All ASI BOD Student- at-Large Representatives
    • Vice President of Student and University Affairs, Chair
    • Non-Voting Members

    Advisors:

    • CSUSM Dean of Students or designated representative
    • ASI staff member designated by the Executive Director

Elections Committee

  • Elections Committee Responsibilities, Membership, & Archives

    The responsibilities of this committee include:

    • Plan and oversee all elections of the ASI Board of Directors in compliance with the ASI Election Code, University Policies, California Non-profit Benefit Corporation Law, California Education Code, and Title V.
    • advertising matters and issues surrounding elections, including but not limited to the application timeline, election dates, forums, and candidate meetings
    • ensure that candidates are informed of and adhere to policies and procedures set forth in the ASI Election Code.
    • receive and respond to any and all grievances, appeals, or complaints brought against any candidates.

    The Elections Committee shall consist of the following members:

    Voting Members:

    • Three (3) members of the ASI Board of Directors, who are not running for office
    • Four (4) CSUSM students not affiliated with ASI, who are not running for office.
