24th Annual Graduates Recognition Ceremony

BFSA is hosting its 24th Annual Graduates Recognition Ceremony on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 6:00pm for all Black/African American Graduates from Fall 2021 to Spring or Summer 2022.

The Black Faculty & Staff Association, along with the Black Student Center, is so happy to share in the excitement of your upcoming graduation, and we are so very proud of you, too! 
 
We are excited to be able to formally invite you to our annual Sankofa Black Graduates Recognition Ceremony, taking place on Monday, May 16, 2022 from 6-8pm in the USU Ballroom. We are celebrating Black graduates, Bachelors and Masters degrees) who graduated in fall 2021 or will graduated in the spring or summer of 2022. The theme for this year’s celebration is We are Here: The Power of Voice and Visibility. A dinner buffet and dessert will be provided. The attire is business casual and you may bring up to four guests for the event. 
 
Part of this event includes Kente Stoles for commencement! They will only be given out for free to those who register to attend the Sankofa Black Graduates Recognition Ceremony on May 16. Otherwise, you will be able to purchase one to your home separately. Stoles are limited and will come on a first come, first served basis, so register soon!

For those who cannot make the Sankofa Ceremony, you will need to order the Kente stole on your own. Remember, Black stoles are for Bachelors degrees and Blue stoles are for Masters degrees.

Sankofa Graduate Flyer 2022

The Black Faculty & Staff Association congratulates Black Graduates with the annual Sankofa Black Graduate Recognition Ceremony, including distribution of stoles, speakers, refreshments, and more! We are extremely proud of all Cal State San Marcos students for the resiliency and flexibility shown over the past few years as the campus transitioned to a hybrid environment and we look forward to celebrating the achievements and successes with all Black graduates at our celebration this year!
