My role at Cal State San Marcos

I oversee the Employer Relations area which has two main responsibilities:

1. I work with the deans, campus partners, university administrators and professors regarding the job market and to identify employers and industries that match the degree programs that are offered at CSUSM.
2. I also represent the university by coordinating outreach strategies to develop relationships and/or partnerships with employers to create employment opportunities for CSUSM students.

My career path

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Redlands and my Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Cross-Cultural Counseling from San Diego State University.  During my twenty years career I have had the pleasure of working in both Human Resources management as a Senior Recruiter and also as a Director in Career Services.  This work experience is instrumental in my current role in the Career Center.

The rewards in doing what I do

I know that CSUSM provides our students with strong academic rigor, so it’s exciting for me to bring jobs to our campus and to help our students have multiple employment opportunities available to them upon graduation.  So when students graduate with a job, it’s very rewarding.

My words of wisdom to students

Network, Network, Network!!  In order to secure employment in your career field, you have to meet people and talk to people in your field of interest.  Start networking and meeting people today that you feel can help you achieve your career goals.  The Career Center can show you how to network effectively.

In my free time

I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching and our North County beaches.
