My role at Cal State San Marcos
As the Administrative Support Assistant for Career Center and Undergraduate Advising Services at California State San Marcos I help students, alumni, employers and community members find what they are searching for or refer them to where they need to go. I explain in detail the different services and resources on campus and share the current events of these two departments. I love connecting with everyone in helping them on their next step in life.
My career path
I received my Bachelors in Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Children, Youth and Families from California State University San Marcos in 2015. A majority of my prior experience is working in the administrative field either in higher education, the county or non-profits organizations. I love working as an admin because my responsibilities vary and each day can be very different. My future goal is to be a counselor in order to work more closely with students.
The rewards in doing what I do
Being in the front I see all types of questions but the most rewarding part is helping students find the right answer. It is so rewarding to help and see others grow.
My words of wisdom to students
Find a balance in life but always reach for your dreams. Of course study and use the resources on campus, connect with faculty and departments or find a mentor, get involved in programs, do internships to see what you like and try to start this process early on. It’s never too early to plan and get help from others but that being said don’t forget to enjoy your experience and make sure to take care of yourself.
In my free time
I love to spend time with family and friends, playing with my puppy, eating different foods, watching lots movies and tv shows. I enjoy listening to music, going to concerts and hope to travel more in my future.
