  • Will on-campus housing be available in the fall?

    Yes, but with less residents to ensure appropriate social distancing.

  • Can I end my off-campus housing?

     Your landlord is not required to end your lease because of pandemic. However, if there is a mutual agreement between you and your landlord, you may terminate your lease.
  • What if I can’t afford to pay my rent or my bills?

    Landlords are prohibited from evicting tenants for nonpayment of rent until May 31, 2020. If you are unable to pay rent, you are required to declare in writing that you cannot afford rent due to COVID-19.

    If you cannot pay your utility bill, SDG&E will not be shutting off power to customers with unpaid bills and will not be charging late fees. If you have lost your job or earn below their income guideline, you can apply for 30% off your bill. Apply in the following link:

    If you cannot pay your car insurance bill, many car insurance companies are providing discounts and rebates to assist you during the COVID-19 crisis. For additional information, please contact your car insurance company directly to see what offers are available.

    If you cannot afford internet services, many telecommunication companies, such as Spectrum and Cox, are providing free internet for households with K-12 or university students. For additional information, please contact your internet provider to see what offers are available.

  • What if I am facing food insecurity?

    CSUSM’s Cougar Pantry has still held pop-up food distributions at the University Village Apartments when possible, though some distributions have had to be canceled in recent weeks.
