CoBA Community Highlights

Christine Sun, Ph.D.

CoBA is excited to welcome new faculty member Dr. Christine Sun. Receiving her Bachelor's degree in China, Dr. Sun finished graduate school in the U.S. She currently teaches cost accounting and plans on teaching managerial accounting in Spring 2016. In addition to teaching, Dr. Sun is the coordinator of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Grant. She enjoys helping students strive for success while promoting the Accounting Department in the process. One particular aspect of her job that Dr. Sun really loves is the time she has to do research on topics related to Accounting. Dr. Sun is currently researching audit quality, auditor specialization, and financial reporting which all fall under her area of interest. When asked about why she decided to accept the job at CSUSM after spending eight years on the east coast, she stated that the familial environment of the accounting department and the fact that CSUSM focuses on the personal development of their faculty rather than the goals of the school is what sealed the deal for her. She expresses deep care for her students and enjoys not only their success in her class, but also success further down in their careers. In her free time Dr. Sun enjoys biking, swimming, and has recently taken up learning how to play the ocarina. CoBA is happy to have Dr. Sun as part of our faculty, and gives her a warm welcome to the team.
