Specialized MBA, Mentor Program

Specialized MBA (SMBA) students are eligible to apply for the CoBA Professional Mentor Program. Selected students (mentees) will each be paired with a professional mentor September to April. Mentors are volunteers from organizations in the San Diego county area and will come from various industries and backgrounds.

Mentor and mentee pairs will decide how often to meet and the kind of activities they will do together. These activities could include, but are not limited to: career discussions, networking events, professional meetings, job shadow, etc. Ultimately, the relationship is intended to help the mentee learn keys to success in their chosen field. We provide mentors and mentees with preliminary information and tips on how to make the most of their time together. Once the introductions are made, however, the progression of the mentorship is determined by the mentor and mentee.

Mentor matches are not guaranteed. Students will be interviewed prior to being matched with a professional. In some instances, students may be referred to a career counselor.

"This program afforded me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and really push myself. My mentor provided excellent suggestions, advice and avenues to network and work toward my goals. Coming out of this program, I have a clearer idea of where I want to go, and who I want by my side on my professional journey. Thank you for this opportunity."
