Commencement

Faculty Regalia

All faculty participating in commencement will be responsible for providing their own regalia to wear during the commencement ceremonies. Faculty must wear ceremonial regalia during the commencement ceremonies. Faculty will NOT be permitted to participate in the processional or sit in the faculty seating area without wearing appropriate decorum. For questions regarding department expenses, you may contact and/or work with your department support personnel.

Purchasing Regalia

Purchasing your regalia will be a personal expense and not be reimbursed by the University.
Additionally, departments may not purchase regalia as a supply for their department.

Purchase Regalia by March 15th
You may purchase regalia by emailing our Jostens rep (Jamie.Freeze@jostens.com) inquiring about fine quality regalia.

Renting Regalia

Rent your Regalia by 3 PM on April 5th
You may rent academic regalia (cap, gown, hood, tassel) from the University Store or by emailing csusm@bkstr.com.

Faculty renting regalia with the University Bookstore will need to complete paperwork where the following is to be noted:

  • First Name, Last Name: 
  • Degree:     
  • Field of Study:    
  • Height:      
  • Weight:      
  • Cap Size:    
  • School Name: California State University
  • School City: San Marcos

Regalia Rental Pricing

Doctor Rental Package

  • $75 + tax
  • Hood, Black Velvet Tam 6-sided w/Gold Bullion, Black Gown with Black Velvet Trim.

Master Rental Package

  • $55 + tax
  • Hood, Black Hard Cap, Black Gown, Black Regular Plain Banded Tassel (no year date)
