  • American Indian Studies (AIS), CHABSS

    American Indian Studies (AIS) at Cal State San Marcos is committed to Indigenous academic excellence and community based participatory research. A Major and Minor in AIS are offered. Our goal is to create culturally intelligent graduates who will contribute to the workforce, including providing leadership to Tribal Nations and Indigenous organizations. Our courses include tribal community engagement—with guest lectures, field trips, participatory research, and service-learning activities. Our department collaborates with Native communities, California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center and engages students in scholarly academic activities that promote and strengthen tribal and cultural sovereignty.

  • Anthropology Department, CHABSS

    The Anthropology major at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is an applied, collaborative, and interdisciplinary course of study that engages students directly with local communities. The anthropology major distinguishes itself through long-term collaborative research projects that enhance student learning experiences and provide reciprocal exchange between the university and the community.

    The College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences (CHABSS) offers an exciting variety of degrees and programs that make up the core of a liberal arts education at CSUSM. Students in CHABSS courses master skills and technologies essential for professional success in a 21st century interdependent global society.

    The Dance Studies Program at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is committed to offering students an understanding of contemporary dance practices and performance within an ever-changing social and political context.

    A student graduating from the Economics Department at Cal State San Marcos is expected to be proficient in the following areas:

    1. Define, describe, interpret and apply the choice calculus of different economic entities (individuals, firms, groups, government).
    2. Describe, explain, and employ the economic way of thinking. 
    3. Explain and analyze how markets work. 
    4. Define, describe, and employ the scientific method to answering economic questions. 
    5. Explain and analyze how the economy works. 
    6. Apply the knowledge and methods to both formulate and answer economic questions.

  • Environmental Studies Department, CHABSS

    The Environmental Studies Program offers students two interdisciplinary options: 1) a Baccalaureate degree with broad training in the physical and life sciences, social sciences, policy and law, and the arts and humanities; and 2) a Minor in Sustainability which focuses on community sustainability and resilience

  • Finance Society, COBA

    In the finance society, we promote a better understanding of the finance field through networking with professionals and peers. We host weekly meetings, where guest speakers will present about their experience and career. We welcome all major!

  • Geography, CHABSS

    Students in the geography program develop a solid grounding in geographic fundamentals. They study the global food system, ancient landscapes in the Middle East, and global climate change through hands-on experiences and classes featuring high impact projects like student research presented at the annual CSUSM research symposium. They also develop core skills in GIS and other field methods.

  • Global Studies, CHABSS

    The Global Studies Department provides students with the opportunity to study international affairs from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. 

    The Global Studies Major and Minor will be useful to students pursuing careers in international development, international organizations (e.g., United Nations), law, non-governmental organizations focusing on international affairs (e.g., Amnesty International), government, graduate study in History, Political Science, International Affairs, and Education.

  • Global Supply Chain Management Society (GSCMS), CoBA

    The Global Supply Chain Management Society (GSCMS) raises awareness on the importance of global supply chain management functions and opportunities. We connect students with faculty and key players in the industry while providing great networking opportunities.

  • Liberal Studies, CHABSS

    The Liberal Studies major has two options, the Elementary Subject Matter Option (ESM) and the Integrated Teacher Education Program Option (ITEP). 

    • Elementary Subject Matter Preparation Option for teachers (ESM)
    • Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP).  This major option provides those pursuing a K-8 teaching career with an accelerated pathway to becoming a California teacher.

  • Linguistics, CHABSS

    The Linguistics Major at CSUSM provides students with a comprehensive study of the core areas of linguistics and the opportunity to specialize in one of three areas: Language, Culture, and Society; Speech and Language Sciences; and Language Studies. The core curriculum is designed to give students a strong foundation in the general study of linguistics, while the specialization options allow students the opportunity to focus their linguistics study in an area that aligns with their interests as well as prepares them for future graduate work or careers.

  • Department of Music, CHABSS

    Department of Music at CSUSM offers Bachelor of Arts degree in various areas, as well as music minor and music tech minor.  The Department of Music also offers a variety of ensembles and general interest courses that are open to students of all majors. Please come by our table to learn how you can be part of our music community at CSUSM.

  • Modern Language Studies, CHABSS

    In order to help the community understand the culturally diverse nature of our changing society and world, the faculty in the Department of Modern Language Studies currently offer courses in four languages:  ArabicFrenchGerman and Spanish

    While we focus on the standard variety of each of these languages, students are also familiarized with the different linguistic and cultural characteristics of the various regions where the languages are spoken. We are committed to exposing our students to the multicultural aspects of our global society.

  • Political Science, CHABSS

    The mission of the Political Science Department is to foster the goals and concerns of the CSUSM Mission Statement by providing innovative and interdisciplinary undergraduate education in the field of political science to a student body across a variety of diversities and experiences. The Political Science Department seeks to produce informed, empowered citizens who will contribute to their national and global communities.

  • Psychological Science - CHABSS

    Psychology is the empirical investigation of behavior from a biological, cognitive, and/or psychosocial perspective. The Psychology Department offers the following programs:

  • Sociology, CHABSS

    The mission of the Sociology department at California State University, San Marcos is to provide undergraduate and graduate students with the knowledge, critical thinking, research, and communication skills necessary to explore, understand, and improve their social worlds.  Our undergraduate curriculum enables students to develop core skills in sociological theory and research methods and to apply and refine those skills in a concentrated area of elective study.  This curriculum consistently promote awareness of the diversity of human experiences and perspectives.

  • Social Science, CHABSS

    The Social Science Major is an interdisciplinary program in CHABSS which aims to provide students with a broad understanding and appreci­ation of the perspectives offered by multiple social sciences disciplines on contemporary social issues. To construct their major, students choose a Primary Field and two Secondary Fields from ten disciplines: anthropology, border studies, communication, history, linguistics, geography, political science, psychology, sociology, and women's studies.

  • Society for Human Resource Management, COBA

    The Society for Human Resource Management chapter at CSUSM is dedicated to the professional development of students interested in Human Resources Management. We are passionate about helping students achieve their academic dreams and welcome students from all majors and interests.

    The goal of the Society for Human Resource Management at CSUSM is to provide our members with a comprehensive understanding of the array of careers within the HR field, analyze critical issues affecting the workforce today, and allow for the real-world application of learned skills.

  • Speech and Debate Club

    The purposes of the Speech and Debate Club are to foster a diverse community of students with different views and backgrounds who can come together to engage in scholarly debate and speeches. In doing so we expand our abilities to persuade, think critically, communicate effectively, and grow as individuals and a community.

  • American Indian Student Alliance (AISA)

    The American Indian Student Alliance strives to be a resource for students who identify as American Indian or Alaskan Native by promoting a sense of community. We aim to increase the visibility and presence of our population at CSUSM by advocating for equity and speaking out against erasure. We welcome allies to join and learn as we pursue our goal of unity and acceptance.

  • California Indian Culture & Sovereignty Center (CICSC)

    The California Indian Culture & Sovereignty Center (CICSC) fosters collaborative research and community service relationships between the faculty, staff, and students of Cal State San Marcos and members of Tribal communities, for the purpose of developing and conducting research projects that support the maintenance of sovereignty and culture within those communities.

  • Kamalayan Alliance

    Kamalayan Alliance promotes Filipino & Filipino-American culture, provides a space where those interested in Filipino & Filipino-American cultures can connect, and brings about awareness of issues within the Filipino community to the CSUSM community.

  • Latinx Center, USU

    The Latinx Center provides programming and services that are relevant and responsive to Latin@/x student needs. We serve as a resource to the campus community. We celebrate and enhance the understanding of our vast and extensive Latinx culture.

    We educate students and campus members about Latinx traditions, culture, and issues impacting the community. The center serves as a connection point to multiple internal and external networks aimed at providing systems of support for Latin@/x identifying students. These center standards foster positive transformational experiences and contribute to Latin@/x student success goals.

  • LGBTQA Pride Center (PC), USU

    The LGBTQA Pride Center (PC) is an inclusive space which promotes positive interactions in a diverse environment.  The PC strives to provide a space that celebrates and affirms students who identify with all genders and sexualities in the LGBTQ community and their allies.

  • Women and Gender Equity Center

    Building on second-wave feminism’s creed of “the personal is political,” we are guided by principles of intersectional feminism: we recognize that while all women experience oppression, we also all experience oppression in varying forms based on race, age, class, gender, sexuality, dis/ability, etc. With that in mind, we want everyone at the Gender Equity Center to feel supported, included, and represented. 

    The GEC is intentionally inclusive of transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and gender non-conforming folks. The GEC is also proud to provide an array of survices to students. Please visit us to learn more about the Women and Gender Equity Center!

    alpha Kappa Delta Phi (aKDPhi) is an Asian-Interest Sorority but not Asian Exclusive. We function off of our five pillars: Sisterhood, Scholarship, Leadership, Asian-American Awareness and our Philanthropy of Breast Cancer Awareness. Every day we encourage our members to reach their maximum potential and we strive to create innovative female leaders.

  • Nu Alpha Kappa (NAK), Fraternity

    Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity (NAK), Inc. was established on February 26, 1988 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California. NAK was the vision of eleven men who felt that the traditional Greek community and university systems did not address the retention needs or support for minority groups. These eleven men worked together to establish a small school organization where minorities and individuals seeking community could gather and find others who would stand beside them in the common goal of academic success. CSUSM is home to the Chi Chapter.  NAK’s three main goals are to, “Promote academic excellence, brotherhood, and culture.”

  • College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP)

    The College Assistance Migrant Program is a unique educational program at California State University San Marcos. This program aims to help students from migrant and seasonal farm worker backgrounds to succeed in college.

    CAMP is a national program that was established over thirty years ago and has helped thousands of students accomplish their educational goals. CSUSM was fortunate to have been awarded the CAMP grant in 2002.

    CAMP offers students pre-college transition and first-year support services to help develop the skills needed to stay in school and successfully graduate from college. CAMP students complete their first year and graduate at a higher rate than other students.

  • DREAMer Resource Office (DRO)

    The DREAMer Resource Office (DRO) provides an inclusive, diverse, and safe space for undocumented (including mixed-status) students, staff, faculty and community members. The DRO aims to provide support and resources, and provide opportunities to build community. Some of our services include FREE immigration legal services, mental health support, academic and career advising, guidance and support in navigating campus and community resources, scholarships, internship opportunities, professional development opportunities and more.

    The Faculty Mentoring Program (FMP) at California State University San Marcos serves students who are first generation and/or economically disadvantaged in their journey to receive their undergraduate degree.  We do this by cultivating sustainable relationships between faculty mentors and our FMP student proteges. Faculty mentors provide students with social and instrumental support, so that students find the resources they need, engage in new leadership opportunities, and plan for their future.

    First-Year Students, come meet us at the expo!

    Success Coaching is a nationally recognized program that has a collaborative relationship between the student and coach to discover who the student is and how they can be successful. Individual meetings can be scheduled throughout the semester with an academic coach to develop study skills, set goals, and ask for academic guidance. The success coach’s overall goal is to help students perform to the best of their abilities.

  • University Police Department (UPD)

    Working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, UPD officers enforce all California Penal and Vehicle Codes on and around campus. UPD officers also assist the sheriff's department with any campus-affiliated calls within the City of San Marcos. We maintain a safe academic environment by being a proactive police force working closely with students, staff, faculty, and community members alike.

    The department of Veteran and Military-Connected Services strives to be intentional in creating co-curricular opportunities through programs, services, and physical space to cultivate and enrich the student experience for our veteran and military-connected students. Our staff works with both university and community-based collaborative partners to carry out our mission as well as models advocacy to support student success.

  • CSUSM Army ROTC

    The goal of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) is to train future officers to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. To students who qualify, the ROTC programs offer scholarships that cover the cost of their education. In exchange, there is an expectation that students fulfill active duty services in their chosen branch of the Armed Forces.

    The Army ROTC program consists of:

    • One course per semester
    • Weekly scheduled leadership laboratory
    • One weekend field training event
    • Optional activities including physical training, orienteering, rappelling, sports programs, and social activities.

  • Best Buddies at CSUSM

    Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). 

    The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities. Our programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

  • CSUSM Extended Learning, Kellogg Library

    Project Rebound is a specialized program that empowers fomerly incarcerated and system impacted students at Cal State San Marcos. Project Rebound guides students in all aspects of academia and beyond. Project Rebound also acts as a direct liasion between networks throughout the campus as a whole and the surrounding community.

  • CSUSM ESports

    Welcome to CSUSM Esports home to collegiate level gaming. Established in 2020, our organization has been slowly growing over the past few years with new branches opening up every semester. The current branches we have open are League of Legends, Valorant, Smash Bro’s Ultimate, Rocket League, Guilty Gear, Tekken, Call of Duty Vanguard, and CS:GO. 

    As an esports organization, we compete against various  colleges across the country in the National Association of CSUSM Collegiate Esports (NACE), College League of Legends (CLOL), College Valorant (CVAL), and many more tournaments.
