Our award-winning GEL 101 Program is a comprehensive college success course that assists first-year students with developing the skills, motivation, and self-understanding necessary to meet the demands of our rigorous undergraduate curriculum. Honoring student success in high school, the GEL curriculum challenges first-years to (1) upgrade their success strategies to meet the demands of a college-level workload and (2) engage in campus life and the CSUSM community. Cal State San Marcos has been offering GEL since 1995, and our course has a strong track record. Why? Those who complete GEL are more likely to stay in college!
