Health and Safety

Hand sanitizing stations will be placed strategically throughout campus in high traffic areas. All of CSUSM’s HVAC systems have been thoroughly analyzed and upgraded, and all of our HVAC systems go through regular preventive maintenance by highly trained, qualified technicians. Enhanced cleaning will be performed if the space in which a COVID-19-positive person was present will be occupied within 24 hours following the positive case being in the space.

As part of the CSUSM community, it is all of our responsibility to look out for the health of ourselves and of each other. Thank you for taking appropriate steps to protect your health, your loved ones’ health, and the campus community’s health by following our campus health and safety measures.

We are on track for a majority of our classes to be taught with an in-person component this fall, but there are a variety of other formats available, including synchronous online, asynchronous online, blended, hybrid, and live and online. A website has been created to help students understand the differences in format. The class schedule was shaped by student input and designed to offer maximum flexibility with in-person, online and hybrid options.

Academic Advising, the Library, and Learning & Tutoring Services, will continue to be available virtually and will resume in person support in Fall 2021.

Campus Life

It is our goal to give students who are ready for on-campus experiences the opportunity to be fully immersed in student life. We will be kicking off the fall semester in true Cougar style with a full calendar of Weeks of Welcome events, and a full calendar of events throughout the semester. For on-campus events, all COVID-19-related in-person event restrictions will be lifted (other than the indoor mask requirement for those who are unvaccinated). Virtual events and programming will continue to be offered.

Staff are transitioning back to campus in early August. Many of our campus spaces have begun to return to pre-pandemic hours. Dining Services is also gearing up for your return. All campus eateries will be open starting the first day of classes. The University Bookstore is open for in-store shopping now.
