Employee Vaccine Certification Program (VCP)

Our safest defense against the spread of COVID is vaccination. The CSU recently updated its vaccination policy on July 27, announcing that effective immediately, all students and employees who come to campus must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a medical or religious exemption. Proof of vaccination is required by Sept. 30. Prior to the deadline, unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated individuals will be required to participate in a weekly testing program and adhere to campus masking protocols. After Sept. 30, unvaccinated individuals with an approved exemption will be required to continue weekly testing and masking protocols when on campus.

Employees are required to submit their vaccination documentation or have an approved exemption by Sept. 30. Employees who are not fully vaccinated or are unvaccinated are required to begin weekly mandatory testing once they begin working on campus.
Submit Your Documentation

Fully vaccinated means the person has received, at least 14 days prior, either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine. Find out where you can get a COVID-19 vaccine at https://www.vaccines.gov/.

Qualifying Exemptions

Medical and religious exemptions are permitted under the following guidelines. Please note that employees with an approved exemption will be required to participate in the weekly mandatory testing program and adhere to current campus mask protocols. 

Medical Exemption

Due to a medical (including mental health) condition for which an Approved Vaccine presents a significant risk of a serious adverse reaction. Any medical exemption must be verified by a certified or licensed healthcare professional.  Attached documentation from a certified or licensed healthcare professional indicating medical reasons.

Religious Exemption

Due to either (i) a person’s sincerely held religious belief, observance, or practice, which includes any traditionally recognized religion, or (ii) beliefs, observances, or practices which an individual sincerely holds and that occupy a place of importance in that individual’s life, comparable to that of traditionally recognized religions.  Documentation is not required.

Certify Your Vaccination Status or Request an Exemption

To help streamline the process, all employees will self-certify through the same form as part of the Vaccine Certification Program (formerly VVP). Employees will have the option to: 

  • attest and submit proof of vaccination, or
  • request a medical exemption and upload a physician’s note
  • request a religious exemption and attest to a sincerely-held religious beliefs
  • verify that employment status has been approved for 100% remote work for the fall semester (this will be confirmed with management and HR)

The Vaccine Certification Program can be accessed through the CSUSM mobile app (under the Covid Resources icon) or through the link below.  

Employees who previously attested their vaccine status through the former Vaccine Verification Program (VVP) will need to re-attest and upload their immunization record. If an employee has already submitted their vaccination card, that information has been recorded and no further action is needed.
