Amanda Eggers, Professional Certificate in Wedding Planning

Amanda Eggers Wedding Planning

With a degree in anthropology, Amanda Eggers has long been drawn to cultural traditions. And as a wedding planner, she uses this focus to highlight her clients’ unique personalities.

“Who doesn’t want to be a part of everyone’s best day? I love making new traditions, being respectful of traditions, blending traditions. That’s something that always spoke to me and what better way to do that than in this life-changing moment in people’s lives?”

Amanda entered the wedding planning industry by way of initial career steps in archeology, then event production and specialty rentals. When she found the Professional Certificate in Wedding Planning at CSUSM, the industry-specific information—such as catering, florals, venues, and contracts and negotiations—filled the gaps she needed to start her own business, Ivory & Lace Creative Weddings.

“I loved the fact that experts in the field were teaching the classes. There was a lot of tangible information that I could apply right away,” Amanda says. “I definitely wanted an in-person class because networking is invaluable. You have to know your vendors and create business relationships with people you respect. It’s part of the overall success of the event.”

In the early stages of her wedding planning business, Amanda is building her content and portfolio at ivoryandlacecreative.com, taking the steps necessary to establish the aesthetic that reflects her passion for the business and for her couples.

“I would like to constantly inspire myself and my couples to make the event as unique as possible,” she says. “I love to work with people who take a little bit more risk or who trust me to do that.”

Of course, weddings are events requiring artistry and high-level business and organizational skills for a seamless experience. But first, a wedding is about two people and a day that will live in their memories forever.

“When they think of their wedding day, they are always going to think of you,” Amanda says, keenly aware of the importance of her role in each wedding. “What inspires me is that it’s love oriented, so there’s already that excitement between the couple. The most rewarding part is that thank you at the end of the day from the couple. It’s probably the most sincere thank you that you will ever get and it feeds my love language.”
