How to Apply

To receive full consideration for admission, please read the instructions below carefully. We look forward to reviewing your application and all supporting documents.

Participants who only wish to complete WTRM 401 and do not want to pursue the certificate, please register below:

Admission Requirements

It is strongly recommended that applicants possess at least one of the following; however, individuals who do not are urged to contact the program director to discuss individual goals and background. 

  • Possession of a Grade II or higher water or wastewater related technical certification issued by the state of California plus at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity at a retail, wholesale or regional water/wastewater utility, or a related public-entity, regulatory, or planning agency; or,
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college plus at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity at a retail or wholesale water/wastewater utility, or a related public-entity, regulatory or planning agency; or
  • At least two (2) years in a supervisory or project lead capacity at a professional engineering or consulting firm that serves public utilities; or
  • At least two (2) years in a supervisory or project lead capacity for a public or private entity focused upon water conservation and/or sustainability
  • Currently seated as a board member of any public or private agency or organization involved in water policy issues;  or,
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

How to Apply

STEP 1: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION TO CSUSM

A. Complete a Water Management Program Application from the links provided above.

B. Items to Upload:
-Current resume (required)
-Water or wastewater related certificates (if applicable)

STEP 2: SUBMIT OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS TO CSUSM

In addition to submitting the University application, you must request and submit one official transcript from each academic institution attended.

Electronic delivery is the preferred transcript delivery method. Verify with your school if an electronic transcript is available. Electronic transcripts can be provided through external or third party vendors (Credential Solutions, eTranscriptCA, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, etc.). When ordering your transcript, please choose California State University San Marcos as the intended recipient from the school name dropdown. If California State University San Marcos is not listed, please use transcripts@csusm.edu as the recipient email address.

If you select to mail your transcript, all official transcripts must be mailed or delivered in sealed envelopes to the address below. *NOTE: Official transcripts from foreign institutions MUST be sent through postal mail.
