Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology

The College of Education, Health and Human Services has partnered with Extended Learning to offer the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Kinesiology, the science of movement, integrates the biological, physical, behavioral and social sciences in the study of physical activity and sport, and their effect on the fitness and quality of life of people across the lifespan. As such, this degree prepares students for a wide variety of careers in the areas of public health, health/fitness education and promotion, wellness coaching, health research, and community health advocacy and programming.


This program will prepare students to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental principles of Kinesiology and apply Kinesiology related skills to empirical research, internships, field experience and/or service learning.
  • Evaluate movement science questions through:
    1. the performance of health, fitness, and movement assessment,
    2. the acquisitions, analysis, and interpretation of original data, and
    3. the procurements, appraisal, and application of information from current research literature.
  • Use oral and written communication that meets appropriate professional and scientific standards in kinesiology
  • Model behavior consistent with that of a kinesiology professional, including advocacy for a healthy, active lifestyle; adherence to professional ethics; service to others; shared responsibility and successful collaboration with peers; and pursuit of learning beyond CSUSM

Program Logistics

  • This accelerated option allows for students to complete their Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in as little as 16 months.
  • Cohort structure guarantees classes are available as needed
  • Classes in 8 week format. Allows for 53 units to be completed in as little at 16 months

Cohorts begin every Fall and Spring semester. 

Please note: The administration of The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology program is contingent upon having the appropriate number of qualified candidates. In the event the number of minimum qualified candidates is not satisfied, the program may be delayed or cancelled prior to the program's start date.
