About ABET

Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) accreditation provides assurance to students, employers and society that a college or university program meets established educational standards for which that program prepares graduates. The standards set by ABET have established the basis of quality STEM education world-wide, thereby an ABET Accredited program international recognition of its quality and prepare graduates to enter critical STEM fields in the global workforce.

An accredited program must undergo a comprehensive voluntary, peer-review process. The evaluation of the program is conducted by members of industry professionals, government, and academics within ABET to ensure that program's curricula, faculty, facilities, institutional support meet the educational standards. The College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at CSUSM is currently in the process of seeking ABET accreditation for the Electrical and Software Engineering programs.
