The Theatre Department at CSU San Marcos invites applications for a tenure-track position in theatre, to begin in Fall 2019. We are seeking a scholar/practitioner with expertise in the area of Latinx/Chicanx/Afro-Latinx Theatre/Performance.
Candidates must possess a PhD or MFA or equivalent practical experience that focuses on Latinx/Chicanx/ Afro-Latinx Theatre/Performance. Demonstration of effectiveness in teaching also required.
The candidate’s teaching interest should be consistent with our academic program, including an interest in contributing to the development of community engaged theatre practice courses. CSUSM is located in North County San Diego and serves a highly diverse student and community population. In addition, candidates should have practical expertise in one or more of the following areas: directing, theatre for young audiences and/or community engaged theatre practice. Preferred candidates for this position will have at least two years experience teaching at the college level and evidence of teaching expertise in the core courses and electives in the Theatre major. Candidates must demonstrate a productive scholarly and/or creative research practice. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated intercultural competence with diverse groups in teaching, research, and/or service.
Duties: Faculty are expected to teach 18 units per academic year, develop an active research agenda, and participate in activities serving the department, college, university, and local community.
