Assessing students and learning outcomes can be thought as a traditional cornerstone of teaching. Typically assessment is thought of a way to establish if students are performing the required tasks or knowledge in a given course. However, assessment can be much more than this traditional idea. There have been innovations in the way people think about and gather data on student performance. Assessment can be done in many dynamic ways that help measure student engagement, the deeper understanding of concepts and to preemptively identify students who are struggling.
