An academic recovery course for first-year transfer students who experienced academic difficulty during their previous semester.
The Course Mission
The purpose of this course is for students to look critically at their natural talents and strengths so that they may tap into these skills to overcome future challenges and experience future academic success.
What Students Do in UNIV 300B
Students enrolled in UNIV 300B will meet face-to-face for 50 minutes every week .Over the duration of the semester, students will come together with their instructor to explore, discover, apply, and build confidence on next steps to recover academically and push forward to their next semester. These weekly meetings will be supportive and intentionally designed to provide a safe space for students to discuss and build connections with their peers and instructor.
Students will work on:
- Academic PoliciesTake time to understand CSUSM academic policies and the importance of Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Tools for SuccessReflect on time management, self-care and prioritizing tasks.
- Understanding Self
Explore personal narrative in understanding your resiliency and goals for college. In addition, students will develop relationship with peers who are experiencing transfer shock and build connections in and outside the classroom.
- Building Connections to Major and CareerUnderstand major requirements and build connections between campus life and future career choices.
- Campus ResourcesUnderstand campus life at CSUSM and build connections to resources both on-campus and virtually!
Who Should Take UNIV 300B?
This course is currently for students who struggled academically during their first semester at CSUSM. The course is a 1-unit, graded, and engaging experience that will holistically address student need and guide students in developing a plan to remove themselves off probation within the next two semesters.
