Randie Chance's commemorative brick in Kellogg Plaza today.

Why did you decide to purchase a commemorative brick?

I decided for two reasons-- 1) it was a donation to the university and 2) it was a way to become a part of the university infrastructure. This was one way to remember my experiences and be apart of the university in a long-lasting way.

What motivated you to give back to your alma mater?

I am grateful to have a job that keeps me engaged, that I trained for throughout college and that I absolutely enjoy! CSUSM was a huge part of preparing for this career. This motivated me to "pay it back" and to help ensure the next generation will have the opportunities I did!

What would you say to a fellow alum considering a donation?

Consider the opportunities and access afforded to us because of our experiences at CSUSM. It is a state funded institution that is always susceptible to budget cuts and constraints. As alumni, we can help students seeking to expand their horizons and prepare for a successful future for years to come.

Anything else that you would like to share?

Just to express my gratitude to all the CSUSM faculty and staff. Special thank you to the psychology and sociology departments that I called home for many years and especially to my mentor, Dr. Wes Schultz.
