Healthy Cougar Peer Educators (HCPE)

Jeanette Burgess

Hi everyone! My name is Jeannette Burgess (she/her/hers). I am a fourth year Psychology major. After achieving my B.A. I plan on attending grad school and becoming a therapist. Along with being an HCPE I am involved with TRIO SSS and am the V.P. of N.T.S.I.S.

Outside of school I like to read, hike, binge watch “reality” t.v. and most importantly spend time with my family. I am excited about becoming a peer educator and getting the opportunity to learn more about the importance of mental health and well-being and sharing it with others.

Jennalyn Parker

Hi, my name is Jennalyn Parker and my pronouns are she/her. I am a 4th year psychology major. I am pursuing a career in clinical psychology to be a therapist for adolescents.

In my free time, I love to read, dance, and spend time with friends, and family. I am excited to be a peer educator to help others and grow personally.

Jess Cervantes

Hi, my name is Jess Cervantes (she, hers, ella). I am a third-year Psychological Science major here at Cal State San Marcos, striving to become a Sports Psychologist. As of Fall 2023, I am a Healthy Cougar Peer Educator. I’m more than eager to spread awareness on serious topics such as mental health and the importance of healthy relationships. Coming from a first-generation household, I hope to break stereotypes on “taboo” topics and encourage my peers to follow a healthy lifestyle.

I enjoy learning about religion, watching true crime, and going to the beach in my free time. I tend to find myself wanting to learn as much as possible about our world. It is truly fascinating to me to see how it works and how distinct we humans are from one another.

Maggie Vo

Hi, my name is Maggie Vo (she/hers). I'm a 1st year student studying Molecular Cell Biology. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I hope to attend medical school to become a radiologist. Beyond my academic pursuits, I enjoy reading, watching films, and going to museums.

As a Healthy Cougar Peer Educator, I’m excited to foster my personal growth, become a support for others, and contribute to a more informed and compassionate society. It’s imperative that everyone can recognize the significance of mental health, its potential signs, and consequences on individuals and communities.
