The Campus App features continue to evolve.  Students can now use the Virtual ID available on the Campus App as a convenient way to check-in to over 35 stations or centers on campus.  In order to use the feature, students have to Sign In to the Campus App by clicking a link at the top of the page. The check-in locations on campus have optical scanners that read the ID from the student’s phone and allows them to automatically check in to various locations such as the Career Center, Writing Center, Math Lab, academic support centers and many USU centers to name a few.  The Virtual ID can also be used to check-out equipment at the Student Technology Help Desk. 

Even though very little advertising was done for this new feature the usage is high.  IITS first rolled out the new feature in August 2018.  Since then students have viewed the Virtual ID almost 30,000 times and generated over 5,000 IDs.  Each Express Check In station has clear signage next to the station if the virtual ID can be used. This is another example of how IITS is using innovative approaches to build tools for improving the students experience with the Campus App. (Posted March 2019)
