SCSS Summer Book Club

Calling all Bookworms!

This summer, the Stay Connected, Stay Social program will host discussion events in June and July for our chosen summer reading list.

NOTE: This event is for staff and faculty only and is not open to students.

JULY BOOK SELECTION

World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments book cover

For the month of July, we have selected "World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments" by Aimee Nezhukumatathil. This book is focused on nature. Each chapter focuses on a different aspect and how it relates to our lived experiences. This book has been described as a breath of fresh air and a source of substance and joy. This will be a good fit as we settle in to the more reflective time of the summer. Learn more on Goodreads.

  • Tuesday, July 20 | 3:30–4:00 p.m. | pages 52–111
  • Monday, July 26 | 3:30–4:00 p.m | pages 112–165

You do not have to attend all the dates to participate and we encourage you to read at your own pace. The pages will be posted as a guide for the discussions only.

JUNE BOOK SELECTION

For the month of June, we have selected "The House in the Cerulean Sea" by TJ Klune. This is a whimsical, fun read and will provide a nice mental break for so many of us who are feeling the effects of a challenging semester. We are looking forward to lighthearted and fun discussions!
