To celebrate National First-Gen Day, the Latino Association of Faculty and Staff (LAFS) and partners will host a First-Generation Resource Fair on Thursday, December 1st from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Join us and learn more about campus resources that are available to you!

Free pizza and first-gen swag will be provided to the first 100 students who attend. Students will sign in at table 20 to receive the free food and swag.

Am I first-gen student?

Being a first-gen student means that your parent(s) did not complete a 4-year college or university degree, regardless of other family member’s level of education (NASPA, 2020).

Why Celebrate November 8?

On November 8, 2017, the Council for Opportunity in Education and NASPA's Center for First-generation Student Success launched the inaugural First-Generation College Celebration. Since that time, hundreds of colleges across the nation have continued to mark this date – the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965 – as a day to celebrate first-generation students on their campuses.
