Curriculum

California State University San Marcos offers an accelerated and Specialized Master of Business Administration
program (SMBA). This innovative program will benefit recent business and non-business major graduates and international students interested in pursuing advanced business education.

The SMBA program consists of two phases: the core and the specialization.

After satisfactory completion of each phase of the program, students will receive a certificate. When the final project and master experience are completed, students receive an MBA degree with a specialization.

SMBA Program Descriptions

MBA Bridge (1 unit)

Before beginning the program, all students will be required to complete a 1 unit MBA Bridge course focused on basic skills including business communications and quantitative methods.

  • MBA Bridge Course: BA 601 (1 unit)

Core Business Knowledge (20 units)

Certificates: Core Business Knowledge Certificate

The Core consists of 20 units of advanced graduate courses, as well as a 1 unit Career Planning and Development course. Students who successfully complete the Core will earn a Certificate of Advanced Study in Core Business Knowledge.

*Course is optional for Certificate of Advanced Study in Core Business Knowledge. 

Specialization (12 units)

Certificate: Specialization Certificate

This phase is for students who have completed the Core and entails 12 units of advanced study in an option of choice. Students will earn a Certificate of Advanced Study in Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management or International Business.
