Are you interested in developing a mindfulness practice to support your health and wellbeing? Or to use in your work, for example in the classroom or educational setting? Let’s explore the practice of mindfulness together in this free, four-week introduction.
This is an opportunity for us to create a trusted and trusting community to support us in our mindfulness practice. For that reason, please plan to attend all of the sessions of the course.
The short application/registration form is on the second page of this flyer. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. Once your form is complete, you can send it to me at: email@example.com.
Dates and times:
Tuesday, April 5, 4:00-5:30
Tuesday, April 12, 4:00-5:30
Tuesday, April 19, 4:00-5:30
Tuesday, April 26, 4:00-6:00
Of note: The final class will be two hours.
Q: Will there be homework?
A: Yes. I will be offering practices to try during the week, totaling between 20 and 40 minutes daily.
Q: Do I need to already have a regular meditation practice?
A: Not at all! This class will introduce many of the core practices of mindfulness, and give you a framework within which to try them yourself at home so that you can establish your own mindfulness practice. If you already have one, it will support your practice with community, and with an opportunity to explore your practice more deeply.
Q: Do I need a meditation cushion?
A: You do not, but if you have one and prefer to use it, please feel free (I’ll be using mine!).
Q: Do I need to be a Buddhist to practice mindfulness?
A: While mindfulness as it is practiced in the United States today draws upon the traditions of Buddhist meditation practice, mindfulness itself is a natural capacity of all humans, and it appears in many faith and philosophical traditions. As we will explore it in this class, mindfulness is a secular practice.
