Scholarship Information

The CSUSM Noyce Teacher Scholars program offers up to $12,000 each academic year for CSUSM juniors, seniors, middle level credential candidates, and single subject credential candidates in Mathematics and Science. The scholarship is awarded as a forgivable loan. Students may accept the award for one, two, or three years, with a two-year commitment to teach as a mathematics or science teacher in a high need school district for each year the award is accepted.

Eligibility Requirements - at the time of award

  • full time student at CSU San Marcos while receiving the scholarship (i.e., 12 units)
  • declared or completed major in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering
  • minimum 3.0 cumulative or in-major GPA
  • no more than two years away from graduation (Junior standing)
  • commitment to apply to or have been accepted to the CSUSM single subject or middle level credential program, to obtain a mathematics or science teaching credential 
  • be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Awardee Requirements

  • maintain an overall minimum GPA of 3.0
  • participate in regular Noyce activites, including STEM outreach activities such as the Hands on Science and Learn-by-Doing lab experiences
  • receive career mentoring and advising each semester
  • two-year commitment as a mathematics or science teacher at a high need school district for each year the award is accepted
  • commit to remaining in contact with the CSUSM Noyce Teacher Scholars program as a CSUSM Noyce Alumni
