Returning Students Checklist

Congratulations on your conditional admission and welcome to California State University San Marcos! The checklist below aims to help you navigate steps to take during your transition to CSUSM.

  • Intent to Enroll & Enrollment Deposit
You must submit your Intent to Enroll and pay the $150 enrollment deposit by June 1st, 2020. By not doing either, your admission could be revoked and you will not be permitted to reserve an Orientation date.
  • Attend Orientation
New students must register for Orientation in order to reserve and finalize courses prior to the first day of the Fall semester. Reservations for Orientations can be made online in MyCSUSM. There is never a guarantee that students will be able to reserve a space in their preferred Orientation so we encourage flexibility. It is recommended you hold off on making summer travel plans until you have reserved an Orientation date.
  • Preparing for Course Enrollment
Students must complete the Pre-Enrollment tutorial prior to attending Orientation. This information plays an important role in preparing for course registration. If you have chosen to change your major, any changes must be done in MyCSUSM prior to June 1st and you must contact Orientation at (760) 750-4930 to ensure your new major will be present on your selected Orientation date. Check your email regularly for registration information and visit Degree Planner to find out how to register the COUGAR way!
  • Official Final Transcripts & Test Scores
Final transcripts must be received by July 15th, 2020 in order to complete the admissions process. Students who do not turn in their final transcript may have their admission revoked.
  • Purchase Your Parking Permit
You will need to purchase a parking permit this summer to park on campus during the school year. Our parking permit options and prices are available on the Parking Services website.

  • Mandatory Training: Not Anymore - Sexual Violence Prevention
CSUSM requires all new students to complete the online Not Anymore: Sexual Violence Prevention training. CSUSM is committed to the safety and wellness of our students, and we are confident that participation in the program will be helpful to students as they transition to our community. The program will be available on MyCSUSM August 1st and must be completed by August 31st, 2020.

  • Get Involved: Weeks of Welcome
Join us and other campus partners for two weeks full of events from August 29th to September 11th, 2020! Check back in Summer 2020 for the official schedule.
