Flying Samaritans of CSUSM

Flying Samaritans, commonly referred to as Flying Sams, is an international organization made up of several different chapters, all sharing the common goal of improving access to healthcare for communities in Baja California, Mexico.

The Flying Samaritans of CSUSM will be a student-medical volunteer organization led by physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, nurses, EMTs, and medical assistants dedicated to providing free medical services to a medically underserved community in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Once a month, CSUSM students will travel along with volunteering healthcare providers to conduct medical screenings, provide treatments, and organize preventative care education sessions for visiting patients. Our mission to create a patient-centered environment with an emphasis on preventive care will create an atmosphere that will extend above and beyond a standard clinic experience.

At no point will volunteers be authorized to perform any procedure, regardless of complexity. No one, including providers, will be able to authorize volunteers to perform any kind of procedure, and procedures are only to be performed by licensed and clinically trained professionals.
