Mission: To inform students on what it is to be sustainable and commit as many as we can to move towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The main goal of the club is to have a presence on campus. This will be done by tabling at university events, creating our own events, adopting campaigns to spread awareness, and taking on sustainable projects.
Examples include our yearly Kill the Cup Contest (www.killthecup.com/) in which we encouraged students to stop using paper coffee cups and to use reusable cups at their favorite coffee shop. We offer $50 weekly giveaways and one grand prize winner who receives an iPad.
We've also started a Sustainable Speaker Series that hosts different guests that discuss sustainability and its relation to different colleges on campus and aspects of our lives.
These are just a couple of great events we hope to make regular at CSUSM.
