Tikkun Olam is a Hebrew saying that means “to heal the tears in the soul of the world.” Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM) is an organization that combines this principle with the maker culture, an umbrella term for independent inventors, designers and tinkerers.
TOM is a global movement of communities that creates and disseminates affordable solutions to neglected challenges of people living with disabilities, the elderly, the poor and society at large. TOM’s vision is a world in which technology and innovation allow every person to access to affordable solutions for his or her needs. TOM’s moonshot objective is to help 250 million people by inspiring and supporting a global network of communities dedicated to this vision. TOM is funded by a foundation that receives corporate and private donations.
