Graduates on Parade is a unique and special opportunity to celebrate our Class of 2022 graduates on Friday, May 13 at 10 a.m. Employee Please review our FAQs below for important information about participating in the parade.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the parade replace commencement?
No. A commencement ceremony will take place the following week. You can find more information on the Commencement Website. - Are faculty and/or staff required to attend?
No. This event is completely voluntary. A volunteer form for faculty and staff will be available online in the coming days. Due to social distancing requirements, the number of volunteer "spots" may be limited. To help parade organizers plan accordingly, volunteers will be required to RSVP. Please visit our registration form. - Do I need to RSVP if I plan to volunteer?
Yes. Only those that have registered will be able to attend. Please visit our registration form. - What if I have other questions?

Logistics
- What time is the parade?
The parade begins at 10 a.m. Faculty and staff will be asked to arrive 1 hour before the start of the parade at 9 a.m. to ensure proper traffic flow and to allow time to find a spot along the parade route. - Can I bring a sign?
Yes! Volunteers are encouraged to make a homemade sign to hold for graduates as they drive by. Please note that sharing of signs among employees is not allowed. - Can I wear regalia?
Yes, but it is not required. There will be limited shade along the parade route. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a hat, sunscreen and water. - Will restrooms be available?
Yes, restrooms will be available on campus. - How long will the parade last?
The estimated length of the parade will be determined by participation.
Health and Safety
- Is it safe to attend the parade?
The safety of our students, faculty, staff and guests is our highest priority. We have coordinated with county health officials to ensure that all safety guidelines and regulations are followed. - Do I have to wear a face covering?
Optional. In compliance with county and state regulations, all faculty and staff must wear a face covering while on campus indoors. Since the parade is outdoors, we encourage you to wear a face covering if you desire to do so. Please note that county regulations don’t require participants in vehicles to wear face coverings. - Can graduates stop to take photos during the parade?
No. Participants must remain in their vehicle at all times. Faculty and staff must maintain appropriate social distance at all times. - Can I high-five, hug or shake hands with graduates?
No. Per county regulations, you must maintain safe social distance from both volunteers and participants at all times. - Can I receive or pass out honor cords, stoles, etc.?
No. Please have all honor cords, stoles, etc. passed out prior to the parade. - Can I bring friends and/or family with me?
No. Only university employees are permitted along the parade route. - Does the parade comply with health and safety regulations?
Yes. We are coordinating with county health officials, who are guiding us in our efforts to host this event.
