Partnerships

An extensive network of professionals and businesses in the technology sector are collaborating with Dr. Ouyang and Dr. Hayden on outreach events to support the QUEST CT project. In particular, the following collaborators will receive support from the project for their involvement on key project elements.

  • Dr. Debi Kilb is a Project Scientist at the Cecil H. and Ida M. Green Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP). She was the Science Director of the SIO Visualization Center from 2001 – 2009. She has worked with the PIs in previous projects to connect SIO scientists and graduate students with middle school teachers. She will host the two days of the Teacher Summer Academy at SIO and recruit SIO scientists and graduate students for the academy activities at SIO. In addition, she will participate in advisory committee activities and act as liaison between the PIs and the science community.
  • Dr. Ana Dowey is a microbiology adjunct faculty in San Diego Mesa College and a fluent Spanish speaker. Her dissertation focused on effective strategies to increase self-efficacy of minority female students in science. She has worked with the PIs in previous projects on connecting with families of students in summer camps. She will recruit and communicate with families and school site leadership about the camp activities and arrange for family participation on Friday of the camp where students will showcase their projects. She will also act as a counselor during the camp.
  • Brenda Hall is Director of North County Professional Development Federation representing 26 school districts in North County San Diego and Riverside County. She meets regularly with district superintendents and leadership and provides opportunities for collaboration and sharing of best practices in curriculum development and professional development among other things. Ms. Hall will participate in advisory committee activities, act as liaison to districts for ensuring data is collected, and assist with scheduling of facilities for project professional events.
