Payment Plans

CSU San Marcos is pleased to offer students and families interest-free installment payment plans for Fall and Spring terms. There is a non-refundable $25 service fee for each term a payment plan is utilized. There is no auto-renewal of payment plans.

Installment payment plans require that tuition, course/class fees, and mandatory campus fees are paid with an initial down payment, and three installments. The down payment is due on the term’s fee due-date (Dec 12th for Spring 2017) and represents the mandatory campus fees and a $25 non-refundable administrative fee. The last day to sign up for a payment plan for Spring 2017 term is February 12, 2017.

You cannot register for a payment plan until you have registered for classes. If you sign up for a payment plan, and add additional classes thereafter that result in additional fees, your payment plan installments will automatically adjust, and spread the additional fees equally across the three remaining payments. Please pay close attention to payment amounts and due-dates to avoid late fees.

Installment Payment Plans for Extended Learning Students

Installment payment plans are available for Extended Learning students.  Installment due dates are the same as posted above.  The down payment consists of mandatory fees, with the remaining three installments consisting of a combination of tuition, course, and class fees.  (Extended Learning tuition and fees vary, please see Extended Learning Fees for details).

Important Information for Installment Payment Plans

  • Due dates for installments are fixed, and do not adjust according to your registration date. If you register late, and sign up for a payment plan after January 12th, for example, the first two payments will be due immediately, with the remaining two payments due February 12th and March 12th. Failure to pay those two payments immediately may result in having all of your classes dropped.
  • Late payments may incur a $15 late fee (up to a maximum of $30 per payment plan).
  • Any changes to your account after you sign-up for a payment plan will update your payment amounts automatically.  You are responsible to pay the new amounts in full by each due-date.
  • Missed payments (or rejected checks) may result in an inability to use an installment payment plan for subsequent terms, late fees, having all of your classes dropped, and a hold on your account.  If you lose your classes, you may not be able to get back into them due to full classes and wait-lists.
  • Cancellation of your enrollment may result in pro-rated fees charged to your account.
  • Failure to pay may result in additional collection costs, including those associated with referral to a third-party collection agency.
