Defensive Driving Certification Process
All state-employed drivers must complete the Defensive Driving Training Certification before they can be authorized to take the Powered Cart Training course.
Step 1: Training
You have two options to complete the defensive driving training - online or instructor led:
Online Training (Two Courses)
- Log into the ETC via the "LearnerWeb Login"
- Hover over the "My Requirements" tile on the dashboard page, scroll and click the "San Marcos Defensive Driving" link.
- Click on the "San Marcos Defensive Driving" tile to open the track.
- Click on the “Driving Safely, Driving Smarter” tile, and then click on the “Launch” or "Retake" button.
- Complete the course following the instructions in the pop-up windows.
- Take a screen shot to verify your completion before exiting the course.
- If you complete the training and the page displays "Incomplete" or "In Progress" for your status, refresh your web browser (by clicking the "refresh" icon or holding ctrl+5 on your keyboard) to resubmit the page and update your training status as "Finished."
- Click on "Back to Group Home Page" on the course page and repeat steps 4 - 6 for "CSUSM Defensive Driving."
- If you complete the training and the page displays "Incomplete" or "In Progress" for your status, refresh your web browser (by clicking the "refresh" icon or holding ctrl+5 on your keyboard) to resubmit the page and update your training status as "Finished."
Instructor Led (One Course)
- Log into the ETC via the "LearnerWeb Login"
- Select “Schedule” from the top toolbar
- Select a defensive driving class from the calendar and click the register button on the pop-up window
- Complete and turn in the required documents through Adobe Sign prior to the class date
- Attend the class
Step 2: Required Paperwork
Once Defensive Driving training is complete, required paperwork must be submitted through the Adobe Sign Workflow.
- Open the Adobe Sign Workflow Selector and select "FA-SHS-Defensive_Driving_Packet" from drop-down menu
- Follow instructions on Workflow form to add emails into the proper field
- "Employee" field: add email of individual completing Defensive Driving certification
- "One-Up Manager" field: add email of manager that the individual reports to
- Add individual's name to the "Document Name" field
- Example: FA-SHS-Defensive_Driving_Packet - [Crash Cougar]
- Click "Submit"
