A Legacy of Impact: Professional Success and Giving Back

Retired finance executive and former CoBA Executive-in-Residence and CSUSM Foundation Board director Luanne Bas left a tremendous impact with her student mentoring, service and support of CSUSM.

When CSUSM College of Business Administration Executives-in-Residence, administrators, and faculty decided to create an award to honor the memory of Luanne Bas, they didn’t have to look far for inspiration. Luanne’s heart was with students and her fellow Executives-in-Residence, so it was a natural fit to create an award for student excellence that recognizes action, growth, integrity, optimism, and risk taking on the part of the student in relation to professional development. These qualities exemplify Luanne’s positive energy and dedication to student professional success.

CoBA is grateful for Luanne’s service as an EIR. We are proud to carry on her legacy through the Luanne Bas Executive-in-Residence (EIR) Award for Student Excellence.

Luanne enjoyed a successful banking career and dynamic community volunteering. She retired from Union Bank after spending 35 years in the corporate finance and wealth management divisions. Luanne began her career with Crocker Bank in 1978 and worked in a corporate lending team at Union Bank and U.S. Bank.  She spent the final 10 years of her career as the regional manager for Union’s Bank Wealth Management Division in San Diego. During her tenure, she worked with middle market companies with sales from $25 million to $250 million, both private and public companies.  She held her Series 7, 66 and 24 licenses while employed as well as a life insurance sales agent, as well has her Series 65 license when she worked as a consultant in estate planning, insurance and investment management sales. She received her BS and MBA in finance from San Diego State University. Luanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend.
