Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA)

It is the responsibility of the Office of the Registrar to safeguard the security and integrity of information, while working toward providing fast and friendly service. For the protection of student's right to privacy, the Registrar ensures the University's compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

FERPA Release

If you, the student, wish to grant permission to release information from your academic record, submit an electronic Authorization to Release form through your student portal. Please note: this process allows the offices indicated in the release to share information to an authorized third-party when requested; it does not provide a third party direct access to the student record or MyCSUSM.

  • Log-in to MyCSUSM
  • Open your Student Center
  • Under Personal Information, click on the Authorize to Release link

Read the information carefully and follow the instructions on the page to add or modify a third party designee.

Make sure to share the Access Code with your third party designee(s). The Office of the Registrar will not disclose any information if the third party is unable to provide the code.
