Outbound Shipping
Distribution Services provides shipping preparation of documents and parcels for official
university business. Items requiring date specific delivery or overnight delivery
are shipped using FedEx. Items that are large/heavy or do not require date specific
delivery are recommended to be shipped via UPS Ground. Items shipped FedEx or UPS
are required to have a completed Distribution Services Shipping Request Form filled
out and attached to the package for correct processing and billing of shipping fees.
Notes regarding outbound shipping
- FedEx Envelopes and small boxed items can be placed with your outgoing mail or placed
in one of the three 2:00pm mailbox pick up locations on campus. For larger items,
please fill out your shipping request form, attach to your item(s) and email distributionservices@csusm.edu to schedule a special pickup. In the email let us know the location of the item,
how many items are to be picked up and if we will need a hand cart to transport due
to the weight or size of the item(s).
- You are welcome to drop off items for shipping at our office in the University Services
Building. Items brought to us by 2:00pm will be processed that day unless information
is missing or incomplete on shipping form. Items received after 2:00pm will be shipped
the following day.
- International shipments require customs information. We are required to enter your
contents in great detail. Please when shipping out of the country, give us a detailed
list of the contents including: type of item, quantity of item, cost to replace the
item, and where the item was manufactured.
- Dry ice shipments require a DOT label. The consignee, shipper, the number of dry
ice packages and the weight of the dry ice inside each package must be in kilograms.
Without the label filled out in its entirety, the box may be returned by the shipping
courier at your cost. Your item will then be required to be re-shipped and additional
charges will apply.
- Packages addressed to a P.O. BOX must be shipped using the United States Postal Service.
Any shipping forms addressed to a P.O. BOX will automatically be sent out using the
most similar service through the US Post Office.
