National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES); US Department of Education

Description NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data that are related to education in the United States and other nations.  Although complete data sets from various surveys can be downloaded from the website, the section highlighted here provides access to the tables presented in several NCES compendia that appear annually (e.g., The Condition of Education, Digest of Educational Statistics).  Customized reports can be obtained through the National Education Data Resource Center.

Fields Covered Assessment, demographics, consumer and education price index, degrees, labor force status, enrollment, graduation rates, graduates (college and high school),

Period Covered Some data are from 1800’s, most from 1990’s on, and projections are to 2012.
Update Frequency Various, depends on data and publication.
