Q: Are there any other Lost & Found collection sites on campus?

A: No. The only official Lost & Found collection site is located in the University Police building.  

Q: What do I do when I find an item?

A: Please turn the item in to the Lost & Found office. The Lost and Found office is located in the University Police building. 

Q: Where can I drop off Lost & Found items after hours?

A: You may call Police Dispatch at 760-750-4567 or if you are standing outside of the University Police building, you may press the red call light button and a University Police representative will assist you. 

Q: What do I do if I lost an item?

A: You may contact the Lost & Found office during office hours and report your item lost. We will contact you if your item has been identified in Lost & Found inventory.

Q: What happens when items are turned in to Lost and Found?

A: Items are logged into the Lost & Found database and stored per University policy. We make every effort to identify and return items to their owner(s).

Q: What should I bring with me if I am picking up my found item?

A: You must bring a valid photo identification card. Valid photo identification cards include: a driver’s license, passport, etc. 

Q: Can I pick up my friend’s found item?

A: No. The owner must pick up their found item and bring proper identification.

Q: Can I pick up my found item after hours?

A: No. Lost & Found items can only be released during regular business hours.

Q: Are there any exceptions when picking up found items after hours?

A: Yes. Keys are the only item that will be released after hours. You may call dispatch at 760-750-4567.  If your keys have been turned in and can be identified, a University Police representative will release them to you.

Q: How long are found items held in Lost & Found?

A: Found items are held for a minimum of three (3) months. Unclaimed items are disposed of per University policy.

Q: Does Lost and Found accept water bottles?

A: Yes. Water bottles are accepted.
