Which automobile insurance policy is primary in a vehicle accident that occurs while driving on University business?

Driving a personal vehicle

• Your personal insurance policy is the primary policy
• The state insurance policy  is secondary
• You can file a claim to request reimbursement from the CSU for out of pocket expenses related to the accident

Driving a state owned vehicle

• The institutional insurance policy is primary

Driving a rental car

• If rented under a state contract, the rental car agency insurance is primary
• If you do NOT rent under a state contract, you are responsible for liability insurance (either personal or non-reimbursable purchased insurance)
