CSUSM Food Safety Certificate

All persons working in a temporary food booth on the CSUSM campus must be trained in food safety. The CSUSM Food Safety Certificate is available to CSUSM faculty staff, and students as an alternative to the County of San Diego food handler’s card.  This certificate is only valid on campus and expires after one year.  To earn the certificate, complete the online Food Safety course offered through the ETC or schedule a live class for your organization.

To complete the online training:

  1. Log in to the ETC via the "LearnerWeb Login" button
  2. Select the “Course Search” tab at the top
  3. Click on the "Safety” tab on the left side menu
  4. Click on the "Food Safety" subcategory
  5. Click on the "Food Safety" course tile
  6. Click the "Launch" button
  7. Complete the training
    1. If the training still is marked as “In Progress,” refresh the page to resubmit and change the status to “Finished.” If this does not change the status, please reach out to shs@csusm.edu.
  8. Select the “Home” tab at the top and click “My Transcript” tile
  9. Locate the Food Safety course and click on “Print” to print or save your certificate
