The Department of Art, Media, and Design (AMD) has internationally acclaimed artists, filmmakers and curators among its faculty and visiting artists. We support student artists as they begin their careers and exhibit work in professional contexts. We are proud of our students’ achievements and look forward to following their future work!

Art, Media, and Design student Sarah Bricke is one of the nine finalists of the 2020 Symposium on Research, Creative Activities, and Innovation that took place at CSUSM yesterday. She is one of two students to receive this honor in the Humanities section.

You are invited to SPECTRUM, featuring introspective works by CSUSM student artists. The exhibition will showcase work in various media, including performance, immersive installations, visual experiments with a nod to Eadweard Muybridge’s study of motion, artworks that play with scale and context and that respond to the question of self.

01.12.2019 See Lucy Solomon's work The League of Imaginary Scientist

Display: a "waiting-for-the-rain machine” with The League of Imaginary Scientists, and an installation combining fungi and books (“Thinking like a Mushroom”) with the collective Cesar & Lois.

 Less locally, Cesar & Lois is exhibiting the project, "Crossing Knowledge Systems: Conversations across Nature and Humanity,” at the Galeria Wydziatu Intermediów in Krakow, Poland, where our art is a finalist for ICIA (International Competition for Intermedia Art)An Integrated Bhiobrid Reality: Degenerative Cultures is also on exhibit in The Urgency of Reality in a Hyper-Connected Age, as part of SIGGRAPH2019.
