Orientation is designed to help Returning students feel welcomed back and reintegrated as a part of the CSUSM community.

Students can expect to:

  • Meet fellow Returning and Transfer students, current students, faculty, and staff
  • Receive academic advising and course registration support
  • Learn about current CSUSM services, policies, and procedures
  • Learn about new involvement opportunities on campus

Orientation dates will be open for reservations at the end of April via your MyCSUSM account.

Who qualifies as a returning student?

Students who have previously attended CSUSM and took a period of time off and are now returning. Students that were considered part of CSUSM Extended Learning (EL) or Open University are not considered "Returning Students".

Do I need to attend Orientation?

Yes, if...

It has been more than three years since you last attended a CSUSM University Orientation. Extended Learning or Temecula Campus Orientation are separate and do not classify as previously attending a CSUSM University Orientation.

The best way to check your status regarding Orientation is to check your "holds" section within your MyCSUSM Student Center.

No, if...

It has been less than three years since you last attended a CSUSM University Orientation. However, the CSUSM community is constantly changing and you are encouraged to attend.
