There is a distinct and growing gap in diverse backgrounds between students and school leaders. This gap contributes to the academic and social gap of students. School leaders who do not reflect and support the diversity of their students may not have the resources, experience or knowledge to understand and connect with the students, their families, or the communities where the school exists.
Emerging Leaders creates a pipeline for diverse school teachers to become school leaders through focused support, mentorship, training, and education. The CSUSM School of Education is partnering with the San Marcos Unified School District (SMUSD) and additional San Diego County school districts, the Southern California Professional Development Center (SCPDF), and the Center for Culturally Proficient Educational Practices (CCPEP) to provide in-depth equity-based professional training to diverse teachers who seek to deliver high quality teaching and learning experiences for all learners.
Established with a generous donation from Dr. Delores B. Lindsey and Dr. Randall B. Lindsey, equity experts and best-selling authors, Emerging Leaders will improve education for all students through the power of inclusion and cultural proficiency.
Invest in local K-12 educators who are urgently needed as school leaders to reflect and support the needs of today's diverse student population.Your donation establishes a pathway for K-12 educators to focused support, mentorship, training, and education in social justice and equity perspectives and strategies for our schools to attain success for every student.
