Help in a Critical Time

During this unprecedented time of global uncertainty, alumni and friends are asking how to help CSUSM students who are struggling to cover sudden costs related to housing, travel home, access to technology for online learning, health and wellness and other emergency expenses.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of concern for our students and your desire to help, even as you contend in your own lives with the challenges of the COVID-19 public health crisis. You can make an immediate difference today, for our students, and our community with a gift of any amount. Thank you now and always for all that you are doing to help our Cougar students.

The Time is Now

Your donation helps students keep their educational dreams alive. Just ask Carleen Kreider and Dick Lansing about why they surprised CSUSM with a $25,000 matching challenge to the CSUSM Student Relief Fund.

“Carleen and I are strong believers in the power of education to open doors and enable dreams.” –Dick Lansing

“We believe deeply in the unique and powerful mission of the university and are pleased to be able to make this challenge gift to inspire others to join us now.” —Carleen Kreider

Carleen and Dick's bold call to action was answered by 81 donors between April 2-30, 2020. These generous donors met Carleen and Dick's challenge with gifts that ranged from $20 to $5,000. Inspired by the groundswell of support, the One CSUSM was launched on May 5th raising nearly $65,000 in one day.

We are deeply grateful for your outpouring of support. The CSUSM Student Relief Fund is actively being used today to help students but it must be replenished in real-time to continue to meet their ongoing needs. Thank you for continuing to support our students at CSUSM.

Critical Resources

The move to virtual instruction deepens the socioeconomic divide as many students rely on campus resources to access technology and course materials. Expanding services like technology distributions and additional licensing of virtual library resources is an important part of helping students continue to have access to their education.
