Pay for Orientation

Orientation is a fee-based program, meaning that without the fee we could not offer this service to our new students and families. When students create an Orientation reservation in MyCSUSM, the student's account will automatically be charged with an Orientation fee. This fee is not automatically covered by financial aid. However, once tuition and fees are paid with financial aid, any remaining funds are returned to the student. Essentially the fee may be covered indirectly with financial aid, if the student has credit on their account. You may view the status of your student account at MyCSUSM and Select Student Center and click on Finances. Students must pay the Orientation fee in full by the tuition & fee payment deadline along with tuition and other CSUSM fees. Please do not make this payment prior to reserving an Orientation date.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

If you would like to cancel your Orientation reservation, you must contact the New Student & Family Programs office at least one week (5 business days) prior to your scheduled Orientation date in order to receive a refund. Please note that fees cannot be refunded after you have already attended an Orientation session, despite any changes in your admissions status or choosing not to attend the university. If you no longer plan on attending CSUSM, please contact BOTH Admissions at apply@csusm.edu and New Student & Family Programs at orientation@csusm.edu as soon as possible.

Summer 2024 Orientation Fees:

First Year Student Orientation: $95
Students have the option to bring up to 2 additional guests for $45 a person.

Transfer Student Orientation: $70

What does my fee cover?
Your Orientation fee covers the logistical costs associated with the programs and services of New Student Onboarding, Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Family Programs, Orientation Team, and Transfer Success Initiatives.

Orientation Fee Payment Options:

Please visit the Student Financial Services website for more information on accepted payment types and how to pay your Orientation fee.

Fee Waivers and Financial Aid:

While orientation fee waivers are not available, your financial aid award can help pay the orientation fee. When you sign up for orientation, the fee is added to your account balance. The orientation fee is not due until the tuition & fee deadline in August.
