Writing Preferences
Instructors at CSUSM have varying expectations for their students. The differences may be due at times to discipline and genre, but at other times, the differences can be accounted as personal preferences. The Writing Center celebrates these differences, and we seek to support students writing toward many audiences.
Help your students better understand what you value as a reader! Take our survey to
share your preferences. We will work with your students to revise and edit their writing
with you in mind.
Submit Your Writing Preferences
You can assign your students to view your preferences for credit. To do so, email esmith@csusm.edu with your interest.
- What do you do with with my preferences?
Our tutors will reference your writing preferences when working with your students. If you want, we can share your preferences with your students. - Can students access my preferences?
Unless they have your permission, students cannot access your preferences. - Can other faculty access my preferences?
Absolutely not. Your preferences will be averaged and counted among other preferences to provide a profile of CSUSM writing expectations, but no identifying information will be provided. - Can I assign students to view preferences?
Yes! Please email esmith@csusm.edu about assigning your writing preferences. - Can you update your preferences?
Yes. If the changes are substantial, you can fill out the survey again. If the changes are minor, you can contact esmith@csusm.edu. - Can you share additional preferences than what is listed in the survey?
There is a section in the preferences to add extra details as well as any writing guides you use in your class.
